Quinceañera

I had the awesome opportunity of photographing a Quinceañera. Don't sweat it if you have no idea what that is, most Canadians are not familiar with the term. In Venezuela when a girl turns 15 years of age, it is not just another birthday. She is becoming a woman and so her family and friends have a big celebration in her honour. I was lucky enough to experience this coming of age tradition in person. I not only documented the party I did an outdoor photography session with the young woman just before the celebration took place. What a blast! The celebration was held in the Carriage House Inn with amazing food and decor. Just before midnight the birthday candles were lit and then the party really began. Crazy hour took place from midnight to 1am and everyone donned masks, beads and boas. That's when the dancing really started. I'm so glad I had the chance to be a part of this amazing celebration.
